This
wonderful old car has been in our family since the late 1980’s we have
started this business to meet the ever increasing costs of running and
maintaining an 80 year old Rolls Royce.
All profits made by Class Act Cars
goes on paying for any necessary maintenance or restoration works that
needs to be done to keep this wonderful old car in the condition it is
in today.
I was once told that you never really
own a car like this you are just entrusted to maintain it for a period
of time. This is very true when you have a car like this there is always
a list of "things to do".
Here
is a list of all the things that have been done to the car in recent
times.
2007-2008
The heart and soul of any car is its
engine. During this time period our car had its engine completely
rebuilt by McKenzie Guppy Ltd. A locally renowned Rolls Royce
specialist. Who done a fantastic job.
As well as the engine rebuild a
new clutch was fitted, the ignition system was checked and repaired as
necessary and the carburettor was reconditioned. the car now runs as
sweet as it did when it was built in the 1920's.
2009-2010
All the side windows have been reconditioned. They had become
a little tatty so we had the frames shot blasted and powder coated and
then fitted new Perspex in to them.
We then decided that the windows needed a proper home in the car.
This had always been a bit of a grey area so we designed and
manufactured a one off storage chest that fits to the rear of the car.
The "Auto Vac" vacuum driven fuel tank wasn't working correctly so we
had it overhauled. Now working perfectly again.
The ammeter in the dash
board had stopped working. It was in a condition where it could
not be repaired. We had an identical unit manufacture to a very
high standard.
2010-2011
Another busy winter break for
the old lady. We have had all four road roads completed
restored. This involves stripping all the spokes from the hubs
and rims. These are then shot blasted and rebuilt with you
spokes and then spray painted. After this new tubes and Dunlop
tyres were fitted.
The charging system on the car was not working to full capacity.
We removed the dynamo and had it reconditioned. At the same time
we also removed the magneto from the car to have this
overhauled. This item had not worked for many years so it shall
be fantastic to have it work correctly again if it is ever
needed. |
